Do you

      þ  love reading inspirational stories

      þ  enjoy supporting charity

þ  have an interest in Australia

This ebook is a collection of short stories that reflect how wonderful life is in Australia. If you love the “Chicken Soup for the Soul” series this ebook is for you! For Australians it will take you down memory lane and remind you of our great land. For non-Australians well, let’s just say you will want to visit Australia once you have read this.

Includes stories by Bronwyn Thompson (Gold Medallist at the Melbourne Commonwealth Games in Long Jump) and Jason Dudley (Bronze Medallist at the Melbourne Commonwealth Games in the Decathlon)

Australian culture can be hard to classify because it is so diverse. You will see some of that diversity in this ebook. These stories reflect how we look after each other when the going gets tough, how we always ‘have a go’ at things and of the deep love we have for our families.

As a 7 year old in UK, my parents took me to a seminar showing life in Australia. They were considering emigrating. I saw the sunshine, the beachs and the open space and even then I knew I wanted to live here. I didn’t realise my dream for another 20 years, but now having lived here for 18 years, the sun, sand and open spaces are a reality.

Reading this ebook reminds me of the childhood I would have loved, and the home I now have amongst great friends. Australians are tongue in cheek when they say this country is “God’s own”, but the stories in this ebook reflect the true spirit of a nation – laid back, down to earth and deeply in love with our island home.

Sally (Sydney, Australia)

Living in Australia we are surrounded by natural beauty. You will be taken on a tour around Australia, reminded of favourite holiday spots, and fall in love with the ideal of living near an Aussie beach.

If you grew up in Australia you will be transported back to those endless hot summer days, trips to the beach, crab hunting in the rocks and creating cubby houses wherever you lived or were holidaying.

I have been re-united with the smell of gum leaves the sight of endless beaches and the sounds of a Melbourne tram! As an expat living in Hong Kong for over 14 years, the reminders of my true home are encapsulated in this book, “Our country, Our spirit. Stories of life in Australia” A very worthy e-library addition to anyone who considers Australia home!

Cameron (Hong Kong)

Every story in the collection is a genuine

reflection on life in Australia.

There is a chapter about people seeing Australia from afar – written by expats to and from Australia. Childhood memories will be revived, memories of sights, sounds and smells will be evoked.

A word of warning to any long-term ‘expat’, have the tissues handy!

I found myself ‘transported’ many times back to my own childhood memories and for this I thank Margit and Karin!  A heart-warming book and with the proceeds going towards a wonderful cause – Save the Children

Tracey (Hong Kong, expat of 17 years and still calls Australia home)

The contributors of this book have shared their lives and they had a great time writing and remembering what they love about Australia. I encourage you to soak up the stories you enjoy, allow yourself the enjoyment of reflection and perhaps even take the time to remember what you like best about this great land of ours.
